I saw a bot that has a chat feed add a feature to it to not see deleted messages:

• Added "hide deleted messages" option for the Chat Feed. This completely hides deleted messages with a black box. You can hover over to reveal the message. Great way for mods to protect the streamer from spoilers!
  

Besides spoilers also protects the streamer from harassment and other unpleasant stuff.

• Stop reading deleted messages.
  

(The phrase "Stop reading" we use here also means "Stop showing".)

ah okay, that wasn't clear. I really like the option to "hover over to reveal the message" though.
